No, to simply play music and send audio, you do not need an app. You can connect directly from your device’s Bluetooth settings. Simply turn on Bluetooth on your device, search for available devices, and select the Soundblade to pair.

However, the myBlueAnt app is recommended for managing firmware updates and additional settings for enhanced functionality. 

In earlier firmware versions, the Soundblade would show up as two Bluetooth devices on some Android phones. If you try to connect to the device with the tablet symbol, you'll see an error message stating an app is required to use this device. Just ignore this and instead, connect to the device with the headphone symbol.
